I am an ordinary girl with a burning desire to find comfort and happiness in life. I came from a small family of 4: I am sort of the middle child. I am originally from a small town of West Africa. I moved in the U.S with my mom at the age of 11. I went to elementary school for two years and then during my second year of middle school I was placed in foster care. Ever since than I’ve been tossed around from home to home and attended several different schools. I recently graduated from Colorado Springs Early Colleges and am now attending pikes peak community college (ppcc). My hope is to get my associate at ppcc and transfer to CSU-Pueblo where I can further my education and get my bachelor in social work.
I did not visualize my career as a social worker. But because of all the hurts and everything I’ve been through it made me a stronger and a better person. I want to help in the way I was helped. Social work is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community.
I personally believe the pain and hurts we experience don’t last forever; tomorrow is always a new day and you’ll see the sunshine. I don’t know who you are; we haven’t met before but believe me, you are my friend. As I sat on my desk and begin writing I pray for God to give me wisdom and understand so that I may bless you.
I can read your mind and I know what you’re thinking. We are strangers. Yes I’m very aware of that. Most people that me well, they also know that family is the most important thing to me. I believe black or white, whether biological or adopted we are all created equal and love is what bonds us together. It helps us to get through the diffi cult time. My brothers, let me bless you with peace and grace as you read this book and begin a new journey.
